PIANO STUDIO, BOULDER COLORADO

Artist teacher of piano - lessons for beginners to advanced players

Welcome to my studio

Congratulations to Sarah, the winner of the 2010 Colorado State Music Teachers Association SPA Artist Piano Competition, Level III.

Concept

Teachers must be aware of the interests and needs of students, and they must provide experiences for learning that lead to meaningful results, results that are long lasting and personally rewarding.

Brenda Ishikawa. Piano Performance and Pedagogy: A Holistic Approach, D.M.A. Dissertation, University of Colorado, 1992

Approach

Dr. Ishikawa views teaching as a process of discovery. Students learn about the basic concepts of music and musical expression through participation in the skills of playing by ear, transposing, harmonizing, improvising, reading, and technique. Students realize their progress and potential through participation in numerous performance opportunities.

Background

Brenda has concertized throughout the United States and abroad. She earned a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance, Literature, and Pedagogy: Process of Group Environments from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in Piano Performance from Northwestern University.
